Welcome

In the mid-80's some folks in Flagstaff, Arizona took a notion to form a club for the purpose
of playing acoustic music, playing and dancing at the Contra dances they would host, bringing in local, regional,
and nationally recognized entertainment for the enjoyment of the community, and sharing this good fun with whoever
wanted to take part in it.
The good times have been many and through the years the Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music realizes we are
part of a larger body of people throughout the land who share the love of the music that unites us. This web site
is a continuance of this notion. |

FFOTM Spring Campout
May 18-20, 2012 at Blowout Tank
Once again, Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music will host its Spring Campout
on the weekend of May 18-20, 2012! This year, we'll be camping at Blowout Tank, about 17 miles south of Flagstaff. PLEASE
NOTE: Due to extreme fire-danger conditions, the Coconino National
Forest issued fire restrictions this week. No open fires or charcoal
grilling are allowed; smoking is limited to enclosed vehicles. Propane
stoves, lanterns, and space heaters are allowed. Please respect these
regulations and dress warmly for the evening jams!
Folks start showing up sometime on Friday and there're usually some pretty good jams that evening. Saturday evening
is the big potluck dinner - bring a side dish; FFOTM will provide the items from the grill. FFOTM will also
host breakfast on Sunday morning. Come prepared with your own gear for all-weather fire-safe camping, plates, utensils,
beverages and other sustenance for the weekend. And don't forget the instruments! We'll ask
for a small free-will donation on Saturday evening to defray costs. The dinner starts around 5:00 pm.
To get to Blowout Tank take I-17 to the Willard Springs exit, about 17 miles south of Flagstaff. From the exit
turn right onto the paved road that leads to the trash compactor station. Follow the Forest Service road to the
north around the backside of the station. We will be camped on the right within the next half mile or so - watch
for signs along the road directing you to the site.
Bring everything you need for a great time camping in the woods, such as water, chairs, warm clothes, sun protection,
and yes, RAIN GEAR all come in handy as do tents, sleeping bags and instruments (of course). FFOTM will
provide porta-potties and a trash container for your convenience. Call 928-525-3001 for more information.
See you there!
